Volunteer Orientation will be provided by Elizabeth Echervrria, Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, Valley Homeless Health Care Program.

Orientation and training is required for all volunteers who will have direct contact with our shelter guests. If you are not able to attend the training, please contact Sharon Aeria – sharon.aeria@dsj.org or call 408-960-8028 to schedule your training. The orientation will acquaint you with what behaviors to expect, and how you can best handle any occurrences. Rules and procedures of the shelter will be provided as part of the training. You will not be able to serve at the shelter if you have not undergone training.

All volunteers for these positionsintake (any position), overnight host, medical, discharge host and drivers are required to attend this orientation even if you were trained last year or at another Village House location.

If you are dropping off food, laundry or serving in another non face-to-face position, you are welcome to attend and learn more about the program, but your attendance is not required.
